SQW supports jobseekers aged 15 and older living in Queensland to build their skills and gain recognised qualifications that lead to meaningful employment.

Participation in the program is completely free with no hidden costs.

As a registered SQW provider, Community Solutions gives you access to accredited training, vocational placement, job placement and ongoing support in high-demand industries across Queensland.

We will be with you at every step, so you can grow your confidence and skills with support tailored to your employment goals.

What Is Skilling Queenslanders for Work?

Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) is a Queensland Government-funded initiative that helps jobseekers gain the skills, qualifications and experience they need to find and maintain employment.

It includes accredited training, work experience and ongoing guidance that supports a transition to secure and stable employment.

Am I Eligible for SQW?

You may be eligible for the SQW program if you:

  • Are 15 years or older and no longer at school
  • Are a Queensland resident
  • Meet Australian residency requirements
  • Need support to gain skills or qualifications to find work, return to work or build job readiness
  • Are not employed full-time

All Queenslanders are welcome, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Community Solutions and SQW

At Community Solutions, we deliver a range of SQW programs across Queensland in the following locations:

  • Cannonvale
  • Gladstone
  • Hervey Bay
  • Mackay
  • Maryborough
  • Nambour (Sunshine Coast)
  • Rockhampton
  • Townsville

The programs run for up to 12 months and include structured learning and practical experience in industries with strong job growth. These industries include ageing, disability, community services, construction, resources and business services.

Whether you’re starting out, returning to work or looking to upskill for a new career, we offer the training, support and hands-on experience to help you achieve your goals.

As part of our SQW program delivery, we offer a range of industry-recognised courses. These courses allow you to gain nationally accredited qualifications up to a certificate III level that support your transition into jobs that matter.
