Community Solutions and RoadTek, a branch of the Department of Transport and Main Roads are set to deliver the Women in Construction (WiC) Program commencing in March 2025. This program offers women an opportunity to start a career within the Civil Construction industry.
To address the gender imbalance in the construction industry, Community Solutions and RoadTek developed the Women in Construction (WiC) Program, actively targeting women of any age group or cultural background to complete full time traineeships in Civil Construction at one of RoadTek’s ten operational units in Queensland.
Duration: Full-time 3-year Certificate III in Civil Construction Traineeship (with the ability to complete sooner)
Location: At one of RoakTek’s ten operational units across Queensland
Study mode: Compulsory 3-week training in Brisbane followed by full-time traineeship at one of RoadTek’s ten operational units across Queensland.

What does the application process involve?
Are there any pre-requisites?
To be eligible, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or hold Australian Permanent Residency. You will need a white card or be willing to obtain one. A valid driver’s licence is required, a manual licence would be an advantage. Flexibility to work a rotating shift roster is essential. We highly value candidates with a genuine passion for the construction industry.
What does the pre-employment medical assessment involve?
This traineeship involves physically demanding tasks, so a physical assessment will be conducted to ensure you are capable of standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
To maintain a safe work environment, a drug and alcohol test will also be required.
Are there any costs involved with this course?
There are no out of pocket expenses associated with this program. All costs for the 3-week training will be covered, including flights and accommodation.
When will the 3-week training take place?
The 3-week training block will commence on the 31st March and will end on the 18th April. You must be available for the entirety of this training period.
