Workforce Australia is the new program that aims to represent all employment and skills services. Workforce Australia’s goal is to equip Australians with the skills, training, and resources they need to gain sustainable and satisfying employment.
Who is eligible for Workforce Australia?
Workforce Australia Online is available to all Australians. Not just those receiving income support.
I am a job seeker, what does Workforce Australia mean for me?
Workforce Australia employment services will give individuals the knowledge and tools they need to get a job, learn new skills, or access the extra support if you need it.
Self-Managed job seekers
Job seekers on income support who are assessed as being able to self-manage their search for work and gain employment will be referred to Workforce Australia Online employment services where they will have access to:
- core services such as resume tools, online learning, professional career guidance, a Jobs Board with skills matching, and links to training and other programs
- financial support to get the tools and skills needed to find and keep a job
- a dedicated contact centre to support and optimise their use of the online services.
I was in jobactive, what does Workforce Australia mean for me?
Workforce Australia is the new program replacing jobactive. If you are an existing job seeker, you will have access to services provided by Workforce Australia.
What is the Workforce Australia Points Based Activation System?
Points Based Activation System (PBAS) is the new and flexible approach that provides individuals with choice and flexibility around the way they manage and meet their mutual obligation requirements in return for their income support.
Under PBAS, job seekers are encouraged to actively engage and participate in tasks and activities on their pathway to employment and are rewarded through earning points to meet their points target.
How do I earn points?
You earn points by doing the following tasks:
- completing job applications
- attending interviews
- completing online learning modules.
Tasks that earn points
- Job application – earn 5 points
- Online learning modules – earn 5 points (maxiumum 5 points per month)
- Attend a job interview – earn 20 points

How do I report points?
If you’re self-managing online, you can report points via your Workforce Australia Online.
Access Workforce Australia Online:
- desktop
- mobile app
- by contacting the DSCC.
If you have a provider, you can report points by:
- contacting your provider
- Workforce Australia Online home page
- the mobile app.
- You will also receive prompts on your home page reminding you to report your points.
What happens if I don’t meet my points target?
If you don’t meet your points target or complete your minimum job search each month, you could receive a payment suspension and a demerit.
If you think you won’t meet your points target, contact your provider straight away. As a provider, we are here to support you.
And if you’re self-managing online, contact the DSCC and inform them about your situation.

If you need more assistance and choose services, we can support you. We will provide you with tailored case management and help you with personal barriers you face while seeking and maintaining employment.
- Work experience opportunities, through Youth Jobs PaTH Internships, if you are between 15 and 24 years old, and a boosted National Work Experience Program.
- Employability Skills Training to explore career options, build employability skills, digital proficiency and improve your job search skills.
- Career Transition Assistance, if you’re 45 or over, to help you build confidence and skills to become more competitive in your local labour market.
- Work for the Dole to help you gain recognised skills and micro-credentials alongside gaining work-like experiences.
- Support that can help you move into work, such as training, licences, or other work-related items.
- Referrals to the Self-Employment Assistance or Entrepreneurship Facilitator Programs to help explore self-employment and/or receive help to start or run an existing small business.
- Referrals to other community services to support you while you get job ready.
