Based in the Community Wellbeing stream is ParentsNext, a pre-employment program that provides early intervention assistance to parents with young children. ParentsNext supports parents to set education and employment goals, develop a pathway to achieve their goals and link them to services and activities in the local community. The RoleWe are now looking to hire a Case Manager on a part time 6 month contract basis (min 38 hours per fortnight with the possibility of additional hours and contract extension) to support our high quality outcome focused ParentsNext pre-employment program. This role will be based from our Sarina site with outreach to Moranbah and Nebo as well as regular travel to Mackay.This position will provide case management services to all ParentsNext participants but will have a focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents to identify achievable goals and activities that will support their transition to employment and/or further their education and training.  This may include referrals to specialist services, facilitating group activities and linking parents with cultural and community based supports. Other key duties will include:Maintaining regular contact with participants, providing advice and comprehensive pre-employment support to achieve outcome milestones.Effectively support participants to identify their barriers to employment and personal and vocational goals.Liaise with stakeholders such as Department of Human Services, employment services, education and vocational training providers and employers for the benefit of connecting participantsMeeting key performance indicators by converting leads into sustainable placements About YouAlong with having an understanding of Employment Services, you will ideally have a solid understanding of the issues experienced by parents, including barriers to education, training and employment.The successful applicant will also ideally have:A background in working directly with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander familiesKnowledge of current labour markets and programsAbility to build rapport and motivate clientsExcellent interpersonal and consultation skills to enable the fostering of strong networks within the communityStrong administrative and compliance capabilitiesPositive attitude and a willingness to learn and adaptFocus to deliver high performanceRecent experience with ESSA current and valid driver’s licence is essential, as is a current Blue Card or the willingness to gain one. The successful candidate will also be required to undergo a Federal Police Check. To perform this role it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person.
