Young people on the Sunshine Coast are being encouraged to consider the importance of respectful relationships, through a new Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month initiative.

Delivered by Community Solutions, the Be Cool … Not Cruel project brings together representatives from the Sunshine Coast Falcons, Broncos, SCOPE and the Queensland Police Service, alongside young people and local artist Sue Martin, to increase understanding about safe and respectful relationships.

Through a series of collaborative workshops, the group have co-designed a billboard artwork, which has been installed at Sunshine Plaza during Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month to raise awareness in the community.

The initiative has also delivered presentations to local school students, and distributed wallet cards showcasing the artwork and listing key support services; with the aim of empowering young people to make positive and informed decisions in their relationships with others.
