Community Solutions, together with Integrated Family and Youth Services and Sunshine Coast Council, will host a drug and alcohol forum as part of Mental Health Week in October.

The free Breaking the Ice forum will welcome a number of experts from the mental health, drug and law enforcement fields to inform the Sunshine Coast community about alcohol and drug use, its impacts and the local support options available.

Registered Nurse and key note speaker Linda Jenner is known for her research and training work in the area of methamphetamine treatment, with more than 25 years’ of clinical practice, research and training experience in alcohol and other drug and mental health treatment. Linda holds a Masters Degree in Applied Science (Research) which focused on the overlap between substance use and mental health problems. Linda is co-Director of the LeeJenn Group; a consultancy company that works with organisations and governments to improve treatment for people with alcohol and other drug problems.

The Breaking the Ice forum is open to community members and free of charge. The event will take place on 7 October 2015 at the Lake Kawana Community Centre at 114 Sportsmans Parade from 9.30am to 1.30pm and light refreshments will be provided.
